Changi Golf Club

The Changi Golf Club, situated on the eastern point of the island of Singapore, has a stunning, hilly 9-hole course.

The Golf Club was initially formed as the Royal Air Force Changi Golf Club in 1946. Changi is a reminder of Singapore's historic association with the Second World War, because the golf course meanders through an area full of mementos of the British times like the officer's quarters, old barracks, air-raid bunkers and gun- positions.

When the Royal Air Force left Singapore in 1971, the club became privatized and civic members were allowed in. Then onwards the golf course has been upgraded on a regular basis.

The Changi Golf Club in Singapore is a tight course, sprawling over the wavy landscape.

The course was once one of the narrowest in the world, but now has been widened. The Golf Club is one of the few areas left in Singapore that retains a village atmosphere.

Mount Everest conquered by 77- year -old

A 77-year-old man reached the top of Mount Everest on Sunday, becoming the oldest person to reach the top of the highest mountain in the world.
The Nepalese climber, Min Bahadur Sherhan is in good health and reached base camp today.
Another Nepalese, Appa Sherpa reached the summit for the 18th time, setting a new world record.
The 8,848m high mountain as been scaled more then 3,000 times since it was first conquered by Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay, in 1953.

Female Streaker wanted

Eindhoven(Holland) is organizing the Tennis Classic from 2 till 5 October.
They want to replay the Wimbledon final of 1996, when Richard Krajicek played against Washington.
Just before that final a woman streaker ran on the court.
The organization is now looking for female streakers in their attempt to reenact that final.
Anybody interested can put in their application and afterwards there will be a final selection by a jury.
Are these candidates supposed to strip in front of a jury or streak somewhere in public?
In the past people who did streaks would get big fines, now they are looking for people like that.
We live in a fast changing world where people have no boundaries anymore when it comes to promote their product!

Manchester United, Premier League Champions once again

It was to be an exiting weekend of football, Chelsea and Manchester United with equal points on top of the Premier League and only one game left to play.
It was simple maths: Manchester would be Champion if they won or if Chelsea lost.
If Chelsea wanted the title they had to win their last game and Man.U had to lose or draw.
It all looked more exiting than it actually was.
What was the chance that Manchester United would lose from Wigan or drew?
In the end it won simple with two goals at Wigan and Chelsea drew against Bolton.
So Manchester won their 10th title under the management of Sir Alex Ferguson in 16 years.
Manchester United facts:
Founded in: 1878
Club colors: Red-White
Stadium: Old Trafford( Capacity: 76.300)
Manager: Sir Alex Ferguson
This seasons most important players: Van der Sar, Heinze, Neville, Ferdinand, Brown, O'Shea, Vidic, Carrick, Tevez, Ronaldo, Giggs, Saha, Scholes, Nani, Rooney

Premier League titles: 17 : 1908, 1911, 1952, 1956,1957, 1965, 1967, 1993, 1994, 1996, 1997, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2003, 2007,2008
FA Cup winners: 11: 1909, 1948, 1963, 1977, 1983,
1985, 1990, 1994, 1996, 1999, 2004
League Cup winners: 2: 1992, 2006
Champions League titles: 2 :1968, 1999
European Cup II: 1: 1991

Champions League Semi Finals

Tonight the first semi final in the UEFA Champions League.
The fact that it will be 3 am in the morning is of little concern to me.
It is after all the Big Showdown in Football.

Liverpool - Chelsea
Barcelona - Manchester United
Doesn't it look very promising?
Definitely 4 major top teams in Europe.
Except for Man. U all the other teams had some mixed results this season.

Barcelona now in third position in the Primera Liga with 9 points less then arch rivals Real Madrid. The good news for them is that Lionel Messi seems to be back in shape.

Manchester United have less worries. They are on top in the Premier league and with likes of Rooney, Cristiano Ronaldo and Carlos Tevez they are widely considered as favorites to win the Premier League and the Champions League.

As for the other game we see two teams with some trouble in their ranks.

Although Chelsea is still in the race for their domestic title and the Champions League title, trouble never seems to be far away.
Is Avram Grant able to control such a group of superstars? So far the answer seems to be yes, after John Terry claimed that the Chelsea players are 100% behind their coach. That Frank Lampard is back in the selection will be big boost for the team.

In Liverpool their seems to be more trouble in the boardroom then on the pitch. Liverpool had a season with many ups and downs but they are in the semi finals of the champions League again. In the last four seasons they are by far the best team in Europe and that might be a cause why they lack the strength to battle it out till the end in the Premier League.

My clock is set and I'm ready to watch some top quality football.

The meaning of the Olympic Torch

Off course, when the Olympic Comitee announced that China would be the host for the 2008 Olympic Games, they could expected that some things might happen in the process.

What is happening now with the Olympic torch was to be expected.
What does the Olympic torch stand for anyway. Is it not about peace, understanding, unity?

Yes, and isn't that the problem with China. Invading Tibet, kick out most of the Tibetans and get it populated with Chinese people.
For decades it is been happening unpunished. China was always a bit mystical, untouchable, never trying to get any attention.
But that all changed when they where choosen to host the Olympics this year. Suddenly all the spotlights where on China.
Off course the Tibetans and the Dalai Lama would take advantage of all this to put Tibet back in the daylight. They would have been fools not to do so!
Now all the pressure is on China and the West.
It is time for the West to look in the mirror and admit that they are nothing more but a bunch of hypocrites.
It seems that superpowers always can do whatever they want.
Lets see if this time is gone be different, lets see if the west dares to take a correct standpoint or if they decide to stay hypocrite.
Lets all pray and hope that one day the Tibetans too find they freedom.
