Mamma Mia Movie

I’m not a big fan of Musical Movies, but I definitely recommend everyone who have not watched this movie to watch it, especially if you are a fan of a successful pop group Abba.

It is the most hilarious, fantastic Musical Movie of all time. The movie is about a single mother, Donna (Meryl Streep) who has a daughter Sophie (Amanda Seyfried) who’s getting married at the age of 20. Sophie never knew her father and discovered that she got three potential fathers, Sam Carmical (Pierce Brosnan), Harry Bright (Colin Firth) and Bill Anderson (Stellan Skarsgard) that her mother have kept secret. Sophie secretly invited all three of her potential fathers to her wedding to find out which one of these men is her father. The movie got lots of unexpected twists and ending.
The whole story is woven together with the music of ABBA.

To find out more you should watch this great movie, as for me I won’t mind to watch it again in the theatre and can’t wait for the DVD to be realeased.

Prom Night Movie Review

Well, the title of the post is called Prom Night Movie Review, but I'm asking myself if this thing is worth calling a movie!

Ok, a quick summary.

A female student was stalked by a crazy teacher and she witnesed how he killed her mother.

Three years later it's Prom Night and that same killer escaped to come back for her.

In his quest for his princess he kills everybody that crosses his path before getting shot himself.

This movie suposed to be in the horror/suspense genre but there is little of all that.

It proves once again that Hollywood movies are not always great. There have been to many of this kind of movies, where mediocre directors and actors try to make some money.

This movie is a waste of money and a waste of time.

Rating: -5/10

I created a minus rating just for this movie, which means they should pay you money to go and watch this movie!

The Strangers movie review

When Kristen (Liv Tyler) and James (Scott Speedman) are staying at a secluded vacation home in the woods after attending a friend's wedding scrary events start to occure.
Opening the door after a loud knock they found a dazed young woman in front of the door wish they send away.
When James head back to the city for a short while, Kirsten gets terrorised by three people and when James finnaly gets back he founds Kirsten in shock.

During the long night they try to find a way out of this terrorising nightmare.

The movie was made with a very small budget to Hollywood standards.
Tyler and Speedman put down a great performance in this horror suspence movie where the violence happens off camera.

A great movie that gives you a few jumps in your seat. It seems to be the new trend of movies.

Hancock Movie Review

Hancock is Super Hero Movie directed by Peter Berg and staring Will Smith and Charlize Theron.
Will Smith plays an alcoholic Super Hero whon saved many peoples lives in Los Angeles but gets no respect because of his unusual way of saving people.
One day he saves a public-relations spokesperson his live and in return this man will try to change Hancock's public image for the better.
Hancock will have to spend some time in prison as part of this public image improvement.
After some time the Chief of Police asks Hancock to rescue people in a chaotic bank robbery and Hancock becomes popular again.
Soon after he finds out that the wife of the public-relations spokesperson, Mary, is actualy his wife who also has Super Powers.
Mary reveals that they are the last two Super Hero's and have been a couple off and on for 3,000 years. When they meet their other half they become mortal and Hancock starts loosing his Super Powers.
During a revenge plot by some criminals that Hancock put away he and MAry gets serious injured.
To save Mary, Hancock leaves the city, restoring both of their power.

Altough the movie has received mainly poor to average reviews it is still a great action Super Hero Movie.
The movie has got some great special effects and Will Smith puts down a convincing role.

If you are looking for pure entertainment and not to much thinking then Hancock is what you are looking for.

The Incredible Hulk Movie Review

Going into the movie theater with a big dose of skepticism but coming out quite pleased.
The Incredible Hulk is not the best movie I have ever seen but it provided the dose of pure entertainment I was hoping for.

Edward Norton plays Bruce Banner, a fugitive living in Brazil, who is looking for a cure for the disease called “Hulk”. Whenever he gets angry ( not hungry!) he will turn green and gets superpowers that allows him too even throw cars in the air. Being a man who is not happy with what he became he wants to find answers.

Tim Roth plays Emil Blonsky, a soldiers who wants the power that the Hulk caries in him. He will be injected with a dose of some radioactive stuff so he can become as powerful as the hulk.
While the actors perform very good in their roles it comes all down to the animated characters to fight it out in a great climax.

Marvel produced a comic movie that is far above standard and by far an improvement over Ang Lee’s Hulk.

Makers of Angels and Demons banned from the Vatican

The makers of Angels and Demons, a prequel to The Da Vinci Code, have been banned from the Vatican.
In Angels and Demons a sinister elite known as the Illuminati to install their candidate as Pope and blow up the Vatican.
Crucial scenes where to shot in the churches Santa Maria del Popolo and Santa Maria della Vittoria.
The Church also condemned the Da Vinci Code, the first Dan Brown novel turned into a movie.
Tom Hanks also stars in Angels and Demons, which like The Da Vinci Code, is directed by Ron Howard.
Archbishop Velasio De Paolis stated that It would be unacceptable to transform churches into film sets so that his blasphemous novels can be made into films in the name of business.
The cast will have to shoot some scenes in the studio.
But it is a big question to me if Angels and Demons can satisfy the movie goers as The Da Vinci Code was far below average.

Kung Fu Panda Movie Review

All Po(Jack Black), the Panda, wants is to be a Kung Fu Master but being a Panda doesn't help him much to realize his dreams.
But during a formal ceremony Po is chosen by tortoise Master Oogway to become the next Dragon Warrior.
And so Po's training starts to become the ultimate Kung Fu Fighter.
He is trained by Shifu(Dustin Hofman) in an attempt to get him ready to fight the evil snow leopard warrior Tai Lung.
Po, will also get help in his training of the Furious Five, Tigress(Angelina Jolie), Monkey(Jacky Chan), Viper(Lucy Liu), Mantis(Seth Rogen) and Crane(David Cross).
After intensive training Po will face the evil snow leopard warrior Tai Lung to reveal who is the one and only Dragon Warrior.

Hilarious from beginning all the way till the end!
Maybe the best animated film of the last few years, together with Shrek.
Although there are a lot of great actors in the cast,it's all about the Panda or should I say Jack Black.
And it is what he does best: being super funny.

My Favorite Top 10 Movies Of All Time

When I look around on the internet for a list of best movies of all times I find lists that look strange to me. Movies that I didn’t expected in the list where in the top 20 and movies that I expected where not in there.
Offcourse, when it comes to choosing the best movie of all times is very subjective and the outcome will be different for every person.
One of my rules is, how many times can you watch the same movie before you really get tired of it?
Anyway this is my top ten. I have to say that it might look different in a few years.

1. The Lord of the Rings trilogy: Based on the book of Tolkien and directed by Peter Jackson, following the hobbits in their quest against evil. And saying that Jackson never made a big hit movie before, very impressive.
2. Forrest Gump: Tom Hanks at his best. The life of Forrest Gump and a glimpse at American history. Super Funny!!I think my wife watched this one more than 15 times!
3. City of God(Cidade de Deus): A non Hollywood movie. The life in the Brazilian Slumps(Favelas). Most of the actors in the movie are actually not real actors but people from the Slumps. If you don’t like the Big Hollywood productions, this is a movie you have to see.
4. Casablanca: Back to the black and white movies. Released in 1942, starring Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman. Considered best Romantic movie of all times. Play it Sam!
5. E.T.: Can there be a list of good movies without a Steven Spielberg movie. You have got to love Aliens after this one. E.T. phone home!!
6. The Godfather: Directed by Francis Ford Coppola and starring Al Pacino, Robert Duval and Marlon Brando in his best role. Maybe the best Gangster movie together with Once Upon A Time In America, starring Robert De Niro.
7. Titanic(1997): Because James Cameron did such a great job recreating one of the most spectacular naval disasters in history. It’s my wife’s favorite movie.
8. The Exorcist: The most scariest movie I have ever seen in my life. I remember looking under my bed before I went to sleep after watching this movie, when I was a kid.
9. Lawrence of Arabia: Haven’t seen this one in a long time. Released in 1962, considered as one of the greatest movies of all times.
10. The Goonies: I know, this one is probably not even in the top 500 of all times. Call it nostalgia. By far my favorite movie when I was a kid. Another great Spielberg movie.

Well, I think there wont be too many people agreeing with me on this one, but that’s what I mean with Subjective!!!!

Out of Africa

Out of Africa is one of those movies I wanted to see again for a long time.
I even told my wife about it last night.
And then today in the news: Director Sydney Pollack died of cancer last night.
With Out of Africa the man made probably his best movie and he deservedly got an Oscar for it as best director in 1985.
In total the movie got 7 Oscars that year.
Out of Africa tells the story of a white Coffee plantation owner, played by Meryl Streep, who lives in Kenia.
Robert Redford also stars in the movie.
Definitely the next movie to buy on my list!

Communists furious with Indiana Jones

Yesterday Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull was released in the Russian Movie theaters . It's the first time that an American movie gets so much exposure in Russia.
In the movie, Indy fights against a bad KGB agent.
The Russian Communists find the movie very Anti Communist. They say that the movie gives the communists a bad image. They fear that the younger generation will get a idea about the communists in the fifties.
A member of the communist Party said: What counts is that we defeated Hitler together with the USA.
Movies are movies and reality is reality!
Let people just enjoy the movie and let politics out of it!

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

Indiana Jones is back after 19 years with the fourth movie in the series.
Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Cristal Skull is set in 1957 and will take Indy across New Mexico, Connecticut, Mexico City and the jungle of Peru.
In the movie Indiana Jones is 19 years older since his last adventure, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade and is leading a quite life before he is thrown back into his old adventures lifestyle.
Dr. Jones gets entangled in a Soviet plot to uncover the secret behind mysterious artifacts known as the Crystal Skulls.
Legend supposes the skull was stolen from a mysterious City of Gold guarded by the living dead in the Amazon and whoever returns it to the city's temple will become master of the Skull's powers.
Together with the young renegade Mutt Williams, Indiana Jones will fight the Soviets, who want to use the Power of the Skull for the Cold War.
It's the kind of movie that brings the little kid in us out, dreaming of the adventures life in search of hidden treasures. Although for me to imagine that kind of life, at times I can't even find my underwear let alone a treasure somewhere in the Jungle of South America.
No doubt it will be the greatest box office hit of the year!

Over Her Dead Body: Movie Review

The Plot:
Henry agrees to consult a psychic months after his wife got crushed under an ice sculpture during the rehearsal of their wedding.Despite his skepticism over her psychic abilities, Henry finds himself falling hard for Ashley, and vice versa. But Kate's spirit wants Henry all to herself and when she realizes that Ashley and Henry are getting along a little too well she tries to sabotage their relationship.

The Review:

A mediocre Hollywood movie like their have been so many others. Was it the worst movie I have ever seen,No, but definitely not the best.
The actors where not convincing, with no chemistry between them at all. They could have opted for some more reputable actors although the script was probably not good enough for the better actors.
The scene with the parrot highlighted the movie.Take the bird,Take the bird!!!!!!

Congkak : Movie Review

The Plot:

Kazman decides to buy a house at the countryside near a lake as a getaway for his family. His wife feels uneasy in the house, she feels like being watched. While their little daughter goes down every night to play Songkak with someone only she can see.
Even when the mother throws away the Songkak game it just turns up again in the house the next day. They find out that the spirit of an old woman dwells the site. The spirit is trying to take their daughter away. In the end the oldest resident of the area, Pak Tua will rescue the family from a terrible haunting.

The Review :

Definitely one of the better Malay movies I have seen in a long time.
Although it is not a Hollywood blockbuster I enjoyed the movie. The story plot was very convincing and was not only based on the horror aspect but also on the family drama. The performances of the actors was above standard and no overacting like in some Malay movies.

The movie had some flaws to.
The lady ghost at the bus stop looked more funny than scary with a moustache. I still don't know if it was natural or attached.
Also the look of the old Lady ghost looked more funny than scary once her face was revealed.
Also the end was a bit weak when they tried to use some special effects but failed to make it look convincing.

Overall it is a movie worth watching and it will definitely give you some trills and chills and you will jump up more then once in your seat!
