Bruce Charlton, reader in evolutionary psychiatry at Newcastle University, states that the working classes have lower IQs than those from wealthier backgrounds and should not be expected to win places at top universities. He suggested that's why there is a the lower number of working-class students at elite universities.
Bruce Charlton says higher social classes have a significantly higher average IQ than lower social classes.
Now, I don't know what the social background is of this Bruce Charlton but I'm quite sure that his IQ can't be that high by stating something stupid like that.
It is Prejudice!!!!
He probably made it into the university because his family had money and not because of his high IQ!
Wise People are not always educated and educated people aren't always wise!
It's a simple fact that the reason why there are so little students from the working class at universities, because the working class can not afford to send their children to university.
And by keeping the admission fees so high it wont change very soon.
A working class hero is something to be!!!

I'm working class, age 29 and my IQ was tested 3 yrs ago by Mensa as 146. I was reading at age 3, had the reading age of a 9 year old at age 6 along with an IQ of around 130.
The main difficulty we working class gifted have is psychological and emotional pressure. We neither belong to our original class nor the one we are aspiring to. My values are completely different to that of my family - the isolation and the feelings of guilt are the worst.
This man has no idea what he is talking about and ought not to be in a tenured position at university.
Quite a dangerous point of view too - that sort of view has led to all kinds of problems in the past, including the holocaust. What an incredibly low IQ he must have, despite his non-working class background.......!!
